Free DynDNS / bhdns.deYour network.
A permanent address.
Your IP address changes. Your subdomain stays.
One address for your home, NAS and everything that connects your world.
What you get, free of charge
Everything a home network needs to stay reachable from the internet — with no paid tier and nothing held back.
- Five subdomains per domainClaim up to five names under each of our domains, with A and AAAA records, a 60-second TTL and no charge.
- Updates by protocol, not by handOne dyndns2 request — /nic/update with an update token — sets the address. Every router and script that speaks dyndns2 works unchanged.
- Routers, NAS and scriptsFRITZ!Box, Telekom Speedport and other routers have a built-in DynDNS client; Linux, NAS devices and cron jobs can use curl, systemd or our scripts.
- No ads, no tracking, no paid tierOne cookie keeps you signed in. No analytics, no advertising, no upsell — the servers are paid for by donations.
How it works
- 01
Create an account: an e-mail address and a password, confirmed with a 6-digit code.
- 02
Add a subdomain: pick a name, and the address your connection is seen with is offered straight away.
- 03
Point your router at update.bhdns.de — from then on the record follows your connection by itself.
If it speaks DynDNS, it works here
The update URL is https://update.bhdns.de/nic/update, the subdomain is the user name and an update token is the password. Step-by-step guides exist for FRITZ!Box and Telekom Speedport; other routers, NAS devices and scripts use the same dyndns2 protocol.
Why this one is different
- Free with no paid tier: every feature is available to every account.
- Two domains and a second nameserver in another data centre, so records survive one server being down.
- Records without a host are cleaned up automatically — no dead entries are left in the zone.
- Servers in the EU, a public status page and documentation that describes what the servers actually do.
Frequently asked
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. There is no paid tier, no trial and no card on file; donations are optional.
- Which routers are supported?
- Any router with a DynDNS client, including FRITZ!Box and Telekom Speedport. The protocol is dyndns2, the same one other providers use.
- Do I need my own domain?
- No. You get a name under bhdns.de or sbdns.de; bringing your own domain is not required.
